Introduction

Department of Applied Japanese was established in August 1995, recruiting high school graduates who have basic Japanese skill(JLPT N3 or higher thanN3). The Department aims to equip students with Japanese skills and professional hospitality knowledges and to nurture diversified talents. We also expect students to apply a Japanese related job immediately after graduation to develop their potentials and promote the hospitality and tourism industry.
 
Our department also requires our students to acquire Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 and a certain level of English certificate upon graduation .
The department provides multivariate lessons, professional Taiwan and chinese teachers, and excellent facilities. We welcome students with passion for Japanese and hospitality to join our family!
 
1. Department’s Education Goals

3. Prospects after graduation
 1. Further education
  Those who want to pursue further education can enroll in research institutes in Japan and our country,  besides the research institute of our university.
 2. Employment
(1) Middle or high level supervisor in the hospitality and service industry
(2) PR, customer service, coordination or receiving staff for Japanese honored guests in restaurants and hotels.
(3) Japanese translator and interpreter services
(4) Japanese tour leader, tour guide and coordinating businesses of Japanese travel agencies.
(5) Ground service or airplane service staff for an airline company.
(6) Japanese interpretation and guide staff in each institution.
(7) Japanese official in government
(8) If studied education course, Japanese teacher in middle school.
(9) If studied minor or major of hospitality and tourism, can work in the hospitality and tourism industry.
(10) Japanese secretary or other Japanese-related work. 
 
4. Special features of this department 
1The most shining features in this department are: strict practice in pronunciation and Japanese dialogue, frequent polite words in the service industry. 
2Senior students will have an off-campus internship for one year. This department arranges for internships in Japan or exchanges students with a cooperative Japanese university. Thus, in the first semester of the second year, it is required to reach Japanese assessment N2 class or above; otherwise, the student  cannot continue with other courses. Also, restaurant and hotel service practice and other relevant courses must be studied in the first and second years to reduce possible problems in the internship. 
Every student is expected to spend one year in an internship in Japan. It is essential to promote the Japanese language and learn from the working spirit of Japanese, to benefit from learning their service methods.
